Farmers and land managers who benefit from the basic payment scheme (BPS) can get free advice.

Counselors can help you:

  • networking opportunities so you can get help from other farmers

Defra’s Future Farming Resilience Fund has helped these organizations provide expert advice to farmers. It will provide more funding to organizations starting in September 2022.

You can find out how to adopt agro-ecological farming practices and short supply chains to build sustainable farming systems and farm financial resilience. Landworkers’ Alliance uses a framework that integrates sustainable production with environmental land management.

Natural business

You can get a program of meetings, seminars, workshops and agricultural assessments, allowing farmers to engage at different times and at different levels.

Natural Enterprise provides industry insights and insight into barriers to diversification, benchmarking in practice and technology for efficiency and productivity.

Webinars and online resources explain the changes that come with the agricultural transition and provide a toolkit of resources to help businesses through this time of change.

  • access to information webinars, 6 general transition update meetings and 5 more specialized meetings going deeper into certain topics
  • 200 reference carbon balance sheets (delivered remotely), intended for companies interested in carbon for the first time, wishing to find their benchmark
  • 30 carbon management plan visits (conducted face-to-face), aimed at companies that have at least 2 years of carbon audit data and already wish to consider the next step, such as mitigation measures for the 5 to next 10 years

The SRUC will provide an update on transition activity and introduce the topic of carbon to a wider audience. The objective will be to show the role of the carbon audit in a positive light. It can be a tool to examine business efficiency and demonstrate the links between good carbon management and operating profitability. Also to show where carbon could fit into future funding schemes.

The Prince’s Campaign Fund

  • up to 3 other optional workshops (topics to be chosen by farm attendees)

You can join the Farm for the Future program for business and environmental support that will help you understand how the farming transition will affect the future of your business. It will be delivered to 11 regions across England by local agricultural support groups.
